I’ve always been suspicious of moisturisers that claim to be both “lightweight” and “fortifying.” In my experience, you usually have to pick a lane. Either you go for the kind of rich, heavy cream that sticks to your face like butter, or you opt for something light and silky (which usually vanishes on contact).
Tata Harper’s Superkind Fortifying Moisturiser is marketed for reactive, stressed, and sensitive skin — all of which tick some boxes for me. Hydration and barrier repair without a suffocating texture? Yes, please.
Before I share my experience with the product (and whether I think it is worth the £116 price tag)- here’s a little more about the brand:
A quick primer on Tata Harper
Launched in 2010, Tata Harper Skincare is known for pioneering the “farm-to-face” process in luxury beauty. The products are formulated and manufactured on the brand’s own farm in Vermont, where the company controls every stage of production — from growing certain botanicals to filling the bottles.
Aside from the pale green aesthetic, Tata Harper is also known for 100% natural formulas (zero synthetic ingredients), multi-active products (each formula contains a high number of active ingredients – often 20+ per product), and a focus on sustainability.
Tata Harper’s Superkind Skincare collection (including the fortifying moisturiser) is made for skin that has been through it. Think natural, hypoallergenic formulas, screened to avoid the usual culprits behind irritation.
It’s no surprise the brand has earned cult status among sensitive skin types. Of course, patch testing is always recommended for reactive skin types, even with gentle formulations.

Formula and texture
This Tata Harper moisturiser is light and smooth, almost like a gel-cream hybrid. It spread easily and evenly and absorbed almost immediately (fast enough that I could move on to SPF and makeup without having to wait around, which is much appreciated on hectic mornings when I’m optimistically trying to squeeze 10+ tasks into a 10-minute window).
For dry skin like mine, this is important. I’m used to moisturisers that sit on the skin, either refusing to absorb or that leave a film that pills underneath sunscreen. This one just melts in and leaves behind a soft, satiny finish.
After using it consistently for a week, my skin feels calm, comfortable, and hydrated. I don’t feel much tightness and there was certainly no stinging or blotchy red patches. Crucially, even though the texture is light, I didn’t feel like my skin dried out throughout the day and needed an extra boost of moisturisation.

Key ingredients
This formula contains antioxidants, which help protect the skin from environmental stress (think pollution, UV exposure, and general wear and tear), and barrier-strengthening ingredients to reduce reactivity over time. A total of 28 high-performance ingredients, no less.
It’s also free from essential oils, fragrance, harsh preservatives, gluten, and 85+ common skin allergens — all part of what makes it a standout in Tata Harper’s Superkind collection.
There’s still this (thankfully dying!) idea that scented moisturisers feel more luxurious — but for me, nothing feels less luxurious than irritated skin. Any kind of synthetic fragrance is a hard pass.
Who the Tata Harper moisturiser is for:
- Dry, reactive, or sensitive skin
- Those who hate greasy textures
- Clean beauty enthusiasts
And who it isn’t for:
- Those that prefer rich night creams
- Those with oily or combination skin
- Those looking for a budget-friendly everyday moisturiser
Is it worth the £116?
As mentioned earlier- this moisturiser retails at £116 for 50ml, and we don’t have to pretend like that’s affordable. This is a luxury product, and it’s priced as such. If you’re someone who flies through moisturiser or doesn’t have a particularly sensitive or reactive skin, the cost is hard to justify.
The formula is high-quality, the packaging is beautiful, and the ingredients are carefully curated for a very specific consumer: dry, reactive, often-overlooked skin types who need comfort but can’t tolerate heavy or fussy products.
If that’s you — or if you’ve tried multiple moisturisers that didn’t quite get your skin — this one does feel like a good investment. It could also work well as an SOS product — the kind you reach for when your skin’s reacting and just needs a break from everything else.
How it fits in my skincare routine
I’ve used this moisturiser after serums and it’s never caused pilling or irritation. It also doesn’t interfere with my face sunscreen or makeup products. That kind of layering isn’t guaranteed from every product, especially with drier skin that can get patchy or textured if not properly prepped.
I wouldn’t use it as a night cream, simply because I do prefer heavier occlusives at night to seal everything in after treatments. But for daytime, it does exactly what it promises when it comes to hydrating and soothing the skin.
As someone with dry, temperamental skin, this moisturiser ticks a lot of boxes: it’s light, gentle and comforting. If you’ve been burned (literally or figuratively) by richer creams in the past, this might be your soft-landing alternative.
