What’s better than a cold glass of rosé when summer finally decides to show up in London? Not much, we would say. Suddenly, every stretched-out afternoon and golden hour feels like something worth celebrating. And now, there’s one more reason to pour yourself a glass.

STK has just raised the bar for summer terraces, both literally and figuratively. The steakhouse known for its glossy interiors and late-night energy has partnered with Whispering Angel to bring that same formula outdoors.

Now open at both STK Stratford (on the rooftop of The Gantry) and STK Strand (in the heart of the theatre district), the new terrace pairs a focused cocktail list, shareable plates and live DJ sets – all built around a rosé that barely needs an introduction.

If the photo above wasn’t enough to get you checking Citymapper and arranging a meet-up with friends or a special date night, here are three reasons why you should book a table at one of these two locations this summer:

1. Whispering Angel, but not as you know it

Whispering Angel has long been a summer staple, but rather than serve it by the bottle and call it a day, STK has given it a bit more to work with. The cocktail list is short and well-calibrated, with two standouts worth ordering:

The Blushing Sunset combines Whispering Angel Rosé with Aperol and peach liqueur — light, citrusy, and not overly sweet. The perfect drink made for golden hour.

The Elderflower Kiss is a little softer: floral and minty, with lime juice cutting through. It’s the sort of cocktail you order first to start light, then end up sticking with throughout the evening.

If you’d rather have it on its own, no one’s judging. Whispering Angel’s dry, crisp structure means it doesn’t need anything added — and sometimes, a cold glass of the original is exactly the right call.

2. The classic STK indulgent food

STK’s terrace menu is compact, but the dishes are substantial, and still unmistakably STK. Think smoked brisket sliders that are rich, generously filled, and finished with just enough mustard slaw to cut through the meat. They come as they should: slightly messy, hot, and properly portioned.

The burger is served in full. A 7oz beef patty layered with American cheese, tomato, pickles, onion, lettuce and house sauce, all in a toasted brioche bun, with truffle parmesan fries on the side (no summer-lite version!).

Vegetarians and vegans aren’t left negotiating with the sides menu either. Options vary slightly by location, but you’ll find a few meat-free options, as well as various lighter dishes. It’s a compact menu, but it offers more than enough choice to make you want to stay for another drink.

3. A vibrant live music setting

At Stratford, the terrace is a proper rooftop: open skies, wide views, and enough breathing room to feel like a destination — not a spillover from the main restaurant. DJs come on throughout the afternoon and into the evening for live soundtracks (because what’s a rooftop terrace experience without a summer soundtrack?).

At their Strand location, there’s also a live DJ on select evenings. The setup is smaller, but the music still adds to the summer atmosphere, especially if you’re stopping by for a pre-theatre drink or stretching a late lunch. It’s relaxed, informal, and makes the space feel like somewhere to stay for another round.

Whether you’re in East London for a proper evening of food and drinks, planning a date night, or just after a pre-theatre glass of something cold, STK and Whispering Angel have made themselves hard to ignore this summer. Rosé, a rooftop, good food, and great views – honestly, what more do you need?

The STK x Whispering Angel terraces are now open and will run throughout the summer, weather permitting (fingers crossed this gorgeous sun holds). You can find more info here.
