Valentine’s Day falling on a Saturday sounds ideal – until you remember everyone else has had the same idea. The best restaurants are booked solid, the special menus long gone, and suddenly you’re refreshing OpenTable like it owes you money.
But staying in doesn’t have to feel like second best. In fact, done properly, it can beat a crowded dining room and a rushed two-hour slot. Good food, a great bottle, and the right atmosphere go a long way – and at home, you get to set the pace.
If you’re leaning into a cosy, romantic night in this year (by choice or by circumstance), these are our top food and drink picks to help you recreate the magic – minus the queue, the noise, and the awkward neighbouring table.

Waitrose Valentine’s Deal

We’ve tried our fair share of Valentine’s deals over the years (not just this year – we’re homebodies here), and Waitrose usually comes out on top. At £25 for two people, it’s significantly more expensive than most supermarket offers, but if you’re after a slightly bougie night that still feels refined – even if you’re in your PJs watching Netflix – this is the one to go for.
The deal runs from 10th to 15th February 2026 and includes five items: a starter, a main course, a side, a dessert, and a drink per person (choose from wine, prosecco, cocktails, or soft drinks). The menu features premium options from Waitrose’s No.1 range, from scallops & king prawns and sirloin steaks to vegetarian Wellingtons, with sides like triple-cooked fries or potato dauphinoise and desserts such as ruby chocolate & raspberry mousse.
Price: £25.00 for two people, available from the 10th to the 15th of February

Yard Sale Pizza x Hannah Crosbie

Yard Sale Pizza, one of London’s most loved independent pizzerias, has teamed up with wine expert Hannah Crosbie (author of Corker) to launch “Hot Night In”, a limited‑edition Valentine’s special running from 4th to 24th February 2026.
The centrepiece is Hannah’s Hot Night In Bundle (£50.50): an 18‑inch Saucy One pizza (mozzarella, vodka sauce, smoked gyula pepperoni, parmesan, chilli flakes, oregano and basil), Yard Sale’s Hot Honey Trap garlic bread (mozzarella, hot honey, garlic oil and thyme), and a bottle of Italian red wine (a chilled Montepulciano d’Abruzzo selected by Crosbie). Heart‑shaped pizzas will also be available specifically on 14th & 15th February, with options like the Saucy One or Margherita to order for delivery or collection.

Desserts
Mon Petit Cœur from Mariage Frères

It’s time to retire the puny brownie and the chocolate overload and reach for a dessert worth popping open a bottle of prosecco for. Mon Petit Cœur from Mariage Frères is a small, heart-shaped treat made with LOVE STORY tea, a black tea blend with fruity, floral notes. The cake is then finished with an intensely fruity confit over smooth red fondant. It’s not just a showstopper – it’s layered with flavour, fresh, and far more interesting than anything you’ll find in a supermarket.
Perfect for capping off a special dinner, it creates a sweet, memorable moment to savour together (if you’re feeling generous).
Price: £14 takeaway or £16 in-restaurant
Where to buy: Available in store from the 7th of February
Hilton Macarons Giant Love Macarons box

You’d usually think of a macaron as a dainty sweet to accompany an afternoon coffee. Not the kind of show-stopping, indulgent dessert you look forward to have. But these are no ordinary macarons. They’re three times the size of a classic one, so they’re far from a modest treat.
This box features six macarons in an array of enticing flavours, from pistachio and raspberry to salted caramel. We never imagined we would be so impressed by a refined French delicacy, but here we are. Elegant, comforting, and utterly delicious.
Price: £20. Shipping available between the 19th and the 12th of February.

PAUL Bakery Charlotte Fraise Cake 7″

A Charlotte is a classic French cake traditionally made with ladyfinger biscuits lining the edge, encasing a light, creamy filling. PAUL is a widely loved French bakery with shops across the UK, so this beauty is easily accessible. If you’re not in the mood for individual desserts but would rather commit to one glorious showstopper you’ll happily slice into over the next few days – this is the one.
Their Charlotte cake is filled with luxuriously smooth custard, lightened with whipped cream for an airy, melt-in-the-mouth texture. It’s then crowned with a generous layer of fresh strawberries.

Drinks
Calvet Prestige Cotes du Rhone Villages

Calvet Prestige Côtes du Rhône Villages is a rounded 2023 blend of reds made from Grenache, Carignan, Syrah and Mourvèdre. It’s deep ruby in the glass, with ripe red fruit on the nose (strawberries, blackberries, currants) and a gentle hit of spice.
It’s smooth on the palate, with soft tannins and a savoury streak that makes it the perfect match for any meal. Sit down, pour a glass, take a sip, and suddenly your kitchen feels like a restaurant table for two. It’s also just below £10 but does look much more expensive (just hide the receipt and no one will know!).
If red isn’t your thing, you can go for a Calvet Picpoul de Pinet or Sauvignon Blanc – both much more refreshing and crisp but still very much medium-bodied.

Della Vite DOC Treviso Rosé Prosecco

Valentine’s calls for bubbles – but this ain’t the night for any supermarket fizz. This Della Vite Rosé bottle is a step above your average prosecco: pale coral in tone, light, fresh, and dangerously easy to drink.
It has subtle notes of berries and rhubarb, and the bubbles hold their lift with a clean finish – enjoyable even if you or your loved one aren’t usually sparkling wine fans. The bottle and packaging are sophisticated and stylish, making it all the more fitting for a celebratory night. Perfect with the main meal or to pop open during dessert – the night is young!
And if you want to make it more of a moment, Della Vita partnered with Velvet Smoke on an exclusive prosecco + candle and matchbox bundle (£96). Nothing like a lit candle to set the night aflame!

Witchmark Black Lime Single Origin English Gin

For gin aficionados who like to stray off the beaten path, Witchmark Black Lime Single Origin English Gin is a revelation. It’s built on a juniper and coriander foundation but has a smoky, almost tangy zing of black lime and a subtle buzz of Szechuan pepper. More nuanced than your usual gin, Witchmark Black Lime turns a humble G&T into a drink that makes you look like you know what you’re doing – even if you don’t.
You can keep it simple with a G&T that lets the gin speak for itself, or use it in something a bit more adventurous, like a citrusy martini or a lightly spiced Negroni.

Havana Club Añejo 7 Años x Martine Rose

This Havana Club Añejo 7 Años is deep and complex – rich molasses, warm vanilla, and subtle spice. You can sip it neat or on ice, but it’s also lively enough to shine in a cocktail. Think Dark ’n’ Stormy with ginger beer and lime, a rum Manhattan swapping bourbon for aged rum, or a richer, more indulgent twist on an Old Cuban with sparkling wine and mint.
The limited-edition bottle is a collaboration with London-based designer Martine Rose, known for dressing A-Listers like Rihanna and Dua Lipa. Her bold, colourful aesthetic turns the rum into a statement piece that’s perfect for a special night.

Noble Coyote Espadin-Capon Mezcal

If, like many of us, you’ve been dabbling in the dark arts of booze and exploring beyond your usual spirits – why not lean into mezcal for Valentine’s drinks? Mezcal palomas and mezcal margaritas are having their moment, and this bottle is a great gateway.
Noble Coyote Espadín‑Capon Mezcal is built from specially selected Espadín agave that’s allowed to ripen longer than usual. This means the spirit has richer, deeper agave flavour (think dried citrus peel and warm earth) alongside a subtle, smoky character. On the palate you’ll find hints of wood spice, dried fruit and a gentle pepper warmth.
